  • Zanzibar is not a single island, and not a single destination, but an archipelago that consists of several islands, with Ugunja the largest one and erroneously called Zanzibar. The other large one is called Pemba.

  • Due to its proximity to the Equator, Zanzibar is warm throughout the year and follows the perfect 12 hours a day and 12 hours night rule.

  • It is also known as Spice Island, growing cloves, cinnamon, black pepper and nutmeg.

  • The shortest war ever recorded is the Anglo-Zanzibar War where the British bombarded the Beit al Hukum Palace and after 38 minutes, a ceasefire was called.
